The 2016 Oration

The 2016 Oration took place on Wednesday the 17th of February at The Savage Club, Melbourne.

The Orator Was Elder Emeritus Professor Martin Comte whose extensive and diligent research into an unknown and astonishing aspect of Crabtree's musical achievements was a revalation to all present.

Emeritus Professor Martin Comte OAM took out a music degree from the University of Melbourne, followed by further studies in Australia and overseas for a Masters and PhD in the dual fields of music and education. His university appointments have included Dean of a Faculty of Education and Deputy Dean of Research. He has several books to his credit, including most notably Australian Pianists. Since his retirement he has devoted himself to researching lost or hitherto unknown music manuscripts, including work by Joseph Crabtree, which will be the focus of his Oration:
